Kim Hyeon-Tae is a Professor of Department of Biosystem Engineering at Gyeongsang National University and the Director of Gyeongsang National University (Institute of Smart Farm). He received an M.S. degree from Gyeongsang National University (GNU), the Republic of Korea, in 1993, a Ph.D. degree from Sungkyunkwan University, in 2001, and a Ph.D. degree from Kyoto University, Japan, in 2005. He has published over 200 articles, over ten patents, and one book. His main research focuses are animal welfare and precision livestock, animal bio-metric, precision agriculture, environment control greenhouses, plant factories, and smart farms with AI. He serves as Vice-President, Director, and Editor of The Korean Society for Bio-Environment Control, Vice President and Director of The Korean Society for Agricultural Machinery, Editorial board member of The Korean Society of Animal Environmental Science & Technology, and External Advisory Committee of Protected Horticulture Research Institute, JCR 20% (Animals). He is also a visiting researcher of Kyoto University and contributed as a guest editor in ISMAB 2018 (International Symposium on Machinery and Mechatronic for Agricultural and Biosystem Engineering).
